Dental implants are an ideal replacement option for missing teeth and can now be performed right here at Cotton Tree Dental.
What is an implant?
Dental implants are a fixed replacement for missing teeth. They are a durable and more permanent option, and they also feel and look like natural teeth! Dental implants are placed in the jaw bone by a titanium post, which can now be performed here at Cotton Tree Dental! These posts provide a stable base for an artificial replacement tooth, such as a crown. The crown is made by a dental technician which is then placed on the implant abutment by us.
What is involved in the procedure?
To ensure that dental implants are right for you, an initial consultation will be conducted to examine your teeth, gums, and evaluate your bone density and quantity. This consultation may also require x-rays and other scans to determine where the implant will be placed.
The following appointment will involve placement of the implant post into the bone. Once in place, a cap is then placed on top to protect the area while the site heals and the dental implant anchors to the jaw bone. The healing process may take up to 6 months.
Following this procedure, the dentist will then attach what’s called an abutment, which holds the crown to the implant. Here a temporary crown will then be placed. This temporary crown serves as a template for the permanent crown as guide the gum as it shapes around it in a natural way. This process is then completed when a permanent crown in then made and placed on the implant.
